About Me

My name is Becky Dorrell and I’m excited to share my journey to and time in South Dakota (aka SoDak) with y’all!

In December 2015, I graduated from Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!) and in a few days I will begin working with Teach for America (TFA). In August I will start teaching elementary school on an Indian Reservation, but I have to get through training over the summer first.

During my time at WFU I worked as Resident Adviser and was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta.

In the future, I want to work in the education policy field and I strongly believe that the best place for me to start is in the classroom. This is why I chose to apply for and accept my position with TFA. I know a lot of change is about to come my way, but I am excited to share my adventure with y’all.

While I am sad to leave my family and good ole North Carolina, I am thrilled to see what this next chapter of my life will bring. This blog is just a simple way for me to keep my friends and family updated as well as document the memories I’ll be making while a corps member (CM) for TFA.
